In 2025, Sonio continued its work in the United States, engaging with a community of clinicians, sonographers, and maternal-fetal specialists regarding prenatal care. With a focus on AI-driven ultrasound tools and cloud-native solutions, Sonio pursued initiatives related to clinical workflows, collaboration, and technology adoption. Following regulatory updates and new collaborations, the company continued to introduce tools into the US healthcare landscape intended to support connected prenatal care for clinicians and patients.

Presence in Maternal-Fetal Medicine

In 2025, Sonio participated in key forums where prenatal care and innovation are discussed. Teams engaged at major US conferences such as the SMFM Annual Meeting (January), AIUM, and ACOG, as well as international events including FMF and ISUOG. Across these venues, Sonio contributed to ongoing conversations about how AI may be integrated into maternal-fetal medicine.

Sonio demonstrated tools like the FDA-cleared Sonio Suspect to illustrate their application within ultrasound workflows. Clinicians and sonographers assessed how the software fits into existing processes, providing feedback that informs future development. These interactions reflect a continued focus on aligning technology design with clinical input.

Focus on Trust, Security, and Compliance

Sonio’s work in 2025 emphasized regulatory alignment, data protection, and operational rigor. Key elements of this framework include:

  • FDA 510(k) clearance for Sonio Suspect, confirming the device was reviewed under the applicable regulatory pathway for its intended use.
  • HITRUST e1 and SOC 2 Type II certifications, indicating that Sonio’s cloud infrastructure and controls underwent independent assessment against established security criteria.
  • HIPAA and GDPR compliance, guiding how Sonio manages protected health information and personal data within legal frameworks.

These elements support Sonio’s ability to offer cloud-based tools to hospitals and clinics while aligning with commonly referenced security and privacy standards.

Evolving Products and Prenatal Workflows

Sonio continued developing a suite of cloud-native, AI-enabled solutions designed for OB/GYN practices, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and hospitals. The aim is to provide flexible options configurable for different care settings. Key developments included:

  • Adaptive tiered offerings structured to reflect the distinct workflows for smaller practices to larger health systems.
  • Enhanced TeleMFM capabilities allowing practices to centralize exam data, align protocols across locations, and access reports through one platform.

These capabilities support collaboration between sites and disciplines. By emphasizing interoperability and role-based access, Sonio’s TeleMFM features help teams coordinate care across geographic distances using shared digital tools.

Learning, Education, and Community

Education and professional dialogue remained priorities in 2025, emphasizing the sharing of user experiences and practical insights on prenatal workflows. Key initiatives included:

  • Clinical Affairs Presentation: Celia Amabile, PhD, Head of Clinical Affairs, presented “AI Assistance Enhances Physician Performance in Identifying Congenital Malformations,” sparking discussion on AI's role in prenatal care.
  • Fetal Weight Estimation Session: Dr. Andrew Combs discussed “Enhancing Fetal Weight Estimation: Promising Results from AI-Driven Approaches,” highlighting advancements in refining clinical metrics.
  • MFM Meets AI Webinar: Featuring Dr. Labib Ghulmiyyah, Medical Director at Broward Health Medical Center, in “My Sonio Story,” this session explored the integration of Sonio’s reporting software, addressing quality assurance and exam completeness.
  • Sonographer Development Webinar: Lashell Jones, RDMS-RDCS (FE), led “Mapping Out Your Future: How to Upskill as a Sonographer,” focusing on skill enhancement and musculoskeletal health.

Additionally, we published an in-depth article on sonographer workforce challenges, reaffirming our dedication to supporting the professionals central to prenatal care.

Partnerships Across the Prenatal Ecosystem

In 2025, Sonio broadened collaborations with organizations involved in prenatal care across the US. Highlights of these activities include:

  • Unified Women’s Healthcare: Working with one of the country’s largest OB/GYN groups to implement TeleMFM capabilities that support remote assessments within their network.
  • Hospital Systems: Engaging with systems using Sonio’s native cloud architecture for modernization and digitization efforts.
  • Clinical Leaders: Collaborating with leaders such as Genesis, WHASN, and Calla on implementation and workflow design.

Sonio also continues to work with private practices throughout the US. Feedback from these independent OB/GYN and MFM groups plays a vital role in prioritizing product enhancements and usability improvements.

Team Growth and Organizational Development

Sonio’s growing international team underpins its efforts in product innovation and customer support. The 2025 leadership expansion included:

  • François Fanuel, VP of Engineering, bringing extensive experience in SaaS and cloud product engineering.
  • Loic Charpentier, Chief Product Officer, with a background in product strategy and AI-powered software solutions.
  • Kim Alamazani, Lead Account Manager, focusing on bridging product, engineering, and clinical perspectives.

The annual team offsite in the South of France brought colleagues together for workshops and activities inspired by Sonio’s core values of empathy, curiosity, courage, and collective growth. Meanwhile, the US team nearly doubled in size, strengthening cross-continental collaboration and expanding the organization’s capacity to serve diverse customer needs.

Looking Toward 2026

As Sonio looks ahead to 2026, goals remain centered on working closely with customers and iterating on solutions responsively. Sonio plans to continue developing AI-enabled prenatal tools accessible and usable across different care environments in the US. By concentrating on workflow support, data integration, and clinician experience, Sonio seeks to contribute to how prenatal care is delivered. Ongoing collaboration with partners, customers, and the community will shape the next steps in this work.
